Drone Filming on the Artemis Fowl Set
Marzano Films were chosen by film director Sir Kenneth Branagh to provide aerial filming services for the movie. We filmed in Northern Ireland, Scotland, Italy and at Longcross Studios taking several hundred hours of aerial drone film footage for the production.
Our team used the Alta 8 and Movi Pro drone to obtain action shots of the impressive Longcross sets and beautiful coastal landscapes of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The Alta 8 & Movi pro a combination has a wide range of flexibility when shooting cinematography. The Movi pro gimbal be either underslung to capture images on the ground or overslung for over-head difficult angle shots that other UAS drone systems just can't manage.
The film's director of photography, Haris Zambarloukos BSC, asked us to shoot with a wide range of lenses creating some unique filming opportunities, camera angles and action shots.
Helicopter Aerial Filming for Artemis Fowl
Marzano Films were also delighted to provide the production with two AS355N helicopters, helicopter mounts and crew. One aircraft will appear in the movie and the other was used as a camera aircraft.
We can't tell you about the action aircraft or how it's used in the movie but we can tell you about the camera aircraft. For the full sized aerial cinematography we used our Eclipse XLHD in both multicam array mode for some ultra high definition vfx plates and in standard single camera configuration for some exciting air to air with the picture helicopeter and other scenes in Northern Ireland. In Italy we used our mini Eclipse with a Red Weapon Monstro Vistavision sensor and a Panavision 70 series short zoom for more spectacular vfx plates. One morning we're flying over a beautiful hilltop town in Tuscany and by the afternoon we're diving into the crater of Versuvius in the south of the country.
